Pero Viviães Nationality: Galega? Biographical Note: Nothing concrete is known about this author, although there are reports of two homonyms, one in Galicia, another in Portugal. In both cases, the two individuals are documented in the last quarter of the 13th century, which may correspond to the author’s chronology, judging by the themes he develops in his satirical songs. The researcher producing these data, Resende de Oliveira1, based on the placement of his songs in the Italian aphographs, believes him to be a noble. In this sense, he leans preferably toward the Galician Pero Viviães who, in 1275, sells some of his assets to one Mem Pais. For our part, we believe that the hypothesis of the latter being the troubadour Mem Pais may be considered, although without any certainties.
