Pero de Berdia
Jogral medieval

Nationality: Galega?

Biographical Note:

Nothing is known of this author, although the placement of his five friend songs in the italian aphographs seems to point to a galician minstrel, maybe natural of Berdia, a location north of Santiago de Compostela, in the margins of the Tambre river1. The hermitage of Santa Marta, that he sings in his compositions, should be the little chapel located near Santiago (but in the urban district today)2.
It should be added that, in two of the five attributive items where his name appears, the spelled form is Bardia, which introduces another layer of uncertainty in his identification.
