Lopo
Jogral medieval

Nationality: Galega

Biographical Note:

Minstrel, most probably galician, that would have frequented the court of Fernando III of Castilla. judging by the reference he makes, in one of his cantigas de amigo, to the King that conquered “from sea to sea” (i. e, from the Atlantic north to the Mediterranean south, a goal achieved with the conquest of Seville). He should equally be the minstrel Lopo to whom the troubadour Martim Soares addresses four satirical songs. All of these references indicate that his period of activity would have taken place in the second quarter of the 13th century. But nothing of substance is known about his biography.
