Biographical Note:

We know nothing regarding this troubadour, whose family name, absent from the Livros de Linhagens (books of lineages), is however attested not only in the Portuguese documentation, but also in the Galician and Castilian documentation from the 13th and 14th centuries1. It’s possible that he was, then, a knight of the gentry or middle nobility, although his nationality is difficult to determine. Furthermore, his preserved satirical song indicates that he frequented the court of Alfonso X.
