Rui Martins de Ulveira

Biographical Note:

Portuguese troubadour, active in the last quarter of the 13th century. Resende de Oliveira believes1 that he can be identified with the Rui Martins de Oliveira mentioned in the Book of Lineages of Count D. Pedro by virtue of his marriage to Sancha Anes de Sandim, first cousin of the troubadour Martim Peres Alvim. A document from 1288 states that he had assets in Santa Maria da Oliveira, a village near Arcos de Valdevez, from where he would be natural. Nothing more is known, however, about him.
